Bryan Adams Good as Ever
The Bayside concert, advertised as "acoustic," was not what I expected. I assumed he'd slow everything down, make it sound like Kenny G or John Tesh. He didn't. On many songs, he filled in with his pianist Gary Bright and his guitar. His voice, wonderful and raspy, cutting like before, sounded as if Bayside had merely subtracted the drums and other guitars. He's a one-of-a-kind entertainer, one of those voices you know in a chorus of thousands. For a guy who's been all over the world and who now apparently has a second career as a world-class photographer, he played and sang like a super-talented rookie out to win over his very first audience. He made us all feel special and included. Bayside is probably the most memorable concert I've ever seen, even after seeing Springsteen, Mellencamp, Tina Turner, BonJovi, and others at the Fargodome. He sang for two hours and was as fresh at the finish as when he hit the first note of the evening. A truly gifted and giving performer.
